HISTORIC HEAT HITS NORTH EAST

Posted on July 6, 2010

Toronto had a blackout yesterday due to a transformer explosion.  Today who knows how the grid will function with  this outage.

CNN is reporting that we are in the midst of a historic heat wave.  The air quality is not good for the populations such as children, the elderly and those with asthma and other difficulties.

A lot of power from my region is sent down state to New York City and it is shared elsewhere.  In the interest of energy conservation, there will be no post today, only this short notice.

If you live in the north east and in one of the high risk populations, do not venture outside unless you absolutely have to.  If you need food or medicine, there are people who can get it for you.  If you don’t have anyone to help you, call your local library, local government agency, the Red Cross and, if a dire situation, the police to report your difficulty. If you are having respiratory problems, call  your doctor.

And finally, your pets.  DO NOT TRANSPORT THEM BY AUTOMOBILE AT THIS TIME.

Do not take chances.

Stay safe.
