BRITISH ROYAL WEDDING Website Goes Down – No Reason Cited

Posted on November 18, 2010

For the past three years, one of the most popular websites for information on the British royal family has been britishroyalwedding.com.  It gave the most thorough coverage to the subject.

Suddenly, the day the Royal engagement was announced, if you tried to reach the site, this was the message you received:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@britishroyalwedding.stvperry.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.2.16 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.16 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_fcgid/2.3.5 Phusion_Passenger/2.2.15 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.britishroyalwedding.com Port 80

The website the error message suggest for reporting problems was a dead end.  What was going on?  Googling different questioning about what had happened to the site produced the following link:  http://www.adrolling.com/britishroyalwedding.com

At the above site, the information about BRW was eye-opening.  Based in the US, it revealed that multiple websites had the same IP address.  Further, it was linked to some very off-beat web pages.

Finally, late Wednesday the 18th, the following cryptic message appeared when you tried to access britishroyalwedding.com:

Thanks to all who visited BRW over the past 3 years. A special thanks to our regular posters. At least we went out on a high!

No explanation was included.  To date, the web is silent on what exactly happened to this popular website.
