Chinese Shallot Pancakes for Shrove Tuesday

Posted on March 8, 2011

Over at the British Daily Mail, I found this priceless video of a Chinese chef and  his mother making shallot pancakes.  It’s very easy and they are entertaining.  It was interesting to hear of the flour and oil shortages in China in the 1960s that curtailed their pancake-making.  Now living in Australia, they find the pancakes taste much better because of the quality ingredients found there.  It could be why the Chinese recently bought many farms in that country as well as in Africa.  For more pancake pandemonium, visit our sister blog, At Grandmas Table. Use the search function to catch them all (crepes, pancakes)
