My Facebook Letter to Homeland Security

To the Department of Homeland Security. Welcome to Facebook. I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I think you should take that part of your name that is “homeland” out of your title because you have made us feel as if this is no longer OUR home. I hope your powers are soon curbed.

Loss of our freedom does not equate to security. There will no doubt be attacks again. Anymore than the police can protect us from stalkers or burglars 100%, you cannot protect us 100%.

But you can do something for us. Close the damn southern border to all but commercial traffic and people with papers. This will be somewhat temporary but it beats what you are doing now to citizens here.

However, we are smart enough to know the government has been cooperating with Facebook and Google for a long time now. It does not take a rocket scientist to know Mr. Obama began his career stopping by the offices of Facebook to help him set up his database for his election. Then once in office Steve Jobs, the head of Facebook and others in the information and social network industries had luncheons at the WH. We know info about us is ALREADY in your hands.

Remember: this is not China. Please. How we bring up our children now will be so oppressive. I am so happy I grew up in the 1950s where all the government knew was your social security number and what ethnic group you belonged to. That was bad enough.

Oh, and don’t forget to check on yourselves and each other – there are such things as moles and people who have bad intent with our info working for you.
