Bill Maher and His Brand of “Crazy Stupid Politics”

Posted on February 25, 2012

CNN uses “comedian” Bill Maher both as an element of entertainment and as a political commentator.  Because of his cachet at the network, his opinions have slipped the bonds of entertainment and have become a version of  reality – of the “truth” – his truth.

Not one to mince words, at times he could wish he had not dredged some of them up. Witness his recent remark about Mitt Romney:

“My money is still on Mitt Romney,” said Maher when asked who the eventual Republican nominee. “And I think he’s going to get the nomination, and then I think Obama is going to beat him like a runaway sister wife, yes, I do.”

If a conservative had mouthed that scathing remark of one man’s religious beliefs, there would have been blood in the streets until it had been retracted.

Ah, but not to worry, it’s just Bill Mahr’s crazy way of keeping in the news.  And now, he’s putting his money where his mouth has always been:  in support of President Obama.  Yes, he has announced his donation of a million dollars to a super pac that is funding the Obama reelection campaign. Well, now.  Peddling influence on the airwaves is one thing.  publically donating such fat cat amounts to a political campaign puts him right in the crosshairs of his own liberal following doesn’t it?  Not really. He is one of their time-honored spokespeople.  Then, too, I am sure he is for taxing himself more but only after his candidate has returned to presidential power.

Now it is time for George Soros to fire up his writers and enter into the political satire arena.  He could do a stand up routine but he’s probably too old to stand for long. But the point here is brothers and sisters that all of the liberals with money are ultimately comedians.  They are kidding Americans that what they do with their money to buy influence is OK in a  democratic system in which super pacs and fat cats should be routed yet their very money and influence prevents this.  The American people are so dumbed down these days that they laugh at the jokes of  the politically annointed comedic spokespeople like Maher while Soros and Maher laugh all the way to the bank.  It’s so pathetic you really have to laugh – nothing else to do.  We are all ultimately powerless to end it under the present system of government as envisioned by global corporations, foreign nations and our in-country dictatorial brothers and sisters on both sides of the aisle.
